Cruise ships dock at a commercial wharf east of the city centre. A shuttle is usually provided with dropoff options on York Street.

Money and Tipping

Australia's currency is the Australian dollar (AUD). Bills are plastic with coins for $2 and under. Australia has eliminated the penny and cash transactions are rounded up or down to the nearest nickel. Taxes are inclusive on sticker prices of items and tipping is not common. Money exchange can be done at any bank. When changing money, make sure you get a good rate and don't pay commission. ATM's are readily available.

Sights

  • Dog Rock - From a certain angle, this rock looks like a dog
  • The Gap and Natural Bridge - These rock formations are in Torndirrup National Park 6 miles south of Albany.
  • Middleton Beach - Take the infrequent bus 301 from Peel Place. There is even less service on Saturday and no service on Sunday. You can also get there by walking 1.5 miles east from the city centre along Middleton Rd.

Shopping & Restaurants

York St is the main street in Albany. Shopping centers and a Coles supermarket can be found at the northern end of York street.
