Cannes is famous for its international film festival and being the playground of the rich and famous. Its sandy beaches are a stark contrast to the pebbly beaches of nearby Nice.

Sights

• Palais des Festivals - This building hosts the annual film festival annually in late May. There are handprints of film stars in the plaza outside.
• La Croisette - This seaside promenade runs along the beach. Do not visit the beach if you are offended by topless women or fat men in speedos.
• Le Suquet - Walk the windy road up the hill by the tender pier for a nice view of Cannes. There is a medieval castle here which has been converted to a museum. This area is the old town of Cannes.

Shopping & Restaurants

Luxury shopping can be found on La Croisette while Rue d'Antibes has a lot of chocolate shops and delis. Marche Forville is a a large covered food market and pedestrian shopping streets can be found on Rue Meynadier and Rue Hoche. There is a Carrefour Supermaket on Rue Meynadier and both a Monoprix supemarket and Galleries Lafayette department store on Rue Mar Foche.

Take a train to Nice or Monaco. The train station is right in town. Verify the schedules at the station to make sure you get back on time.
