Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos

Grand Turk Cruise Center

Introduction

Grand Turk is the capital of the Turks and Caicos. The island is very small and only 7 miles long and 1 mile wide.

Where You're Docked

Ships dock at Grand Turk Cruise Center on the southern tip of the island. There is a nice beach here with free loungers, shops and restaurants including a large Margaritaville with an outdoor pool. Most visitors don't leave this area. Cruise schedule here http://www.grandturkcc.com/Port-Schedule.aspx

Money and Tipping

Turks and Caicos official currency is the US dollar. At restaurants, tip 15-20% for good service.

Local Transportation

Since the island is so small, there aren't many transportation options. You can rent a car or hire a taxi at the cruise terminal but there isn't much to see. Bike rentals may be also be available.

Sights

There is a lighthouse on the north end of the island. If you want to get away from the crowds, try White Sands Beach on the other side.

The beach directly south of the cruise pier is Conch Graveyard. You may be able to find a nice shell here but give it a good cleaning and make sure it's empty.

Shopping & Restaurants

There is a duty free at the pier and shopping at the Cruise Center.
