Shuttles may be provided to Walmart at Prince Kuhio Plaza Mall two miles south of the pier. The Downtown Farmer's Market may also offer a free shuttle. Local TransportationYou can take the public Mass Transit Bus to downtown Hilo, you can take a taxi, or you can walk. Walking to downtown Hilo is about 2.3 miles and takes about one hour. The bus cost is $1.00, free for seniors 55 and above; taxi fare from the port to Downtown Hilo is about $12-16. There is no bus service on Sundays. Shopping & RestaurantsShops in Downtown Hilo are concentrated on Bayfront or Kamehameha Avenue and its side streets. The is open daily except for Fridays and has more vendors on Wednesday and Saturday. The main retail area is around Prince Kuhio Plaza Mall with a Macy's, Sears and Zippy's restaurant.
