Local TransportationSince Koper is very small, you can also visit the scenic town of Piran to the west. Buses depart from the train station about 1 km south of the Muda Gate. They leave every 20-30 minutes, the journey time is 45 minutes and the fare is €3.10. Buses cost €3.10 and do not run on Sunday and Italian Public Holidays.
Slovenia's small but scenic capital of Ljubljana can also be reached by bus (90 minutes) or train (2h 20min). A Hop-On Hop-Off tour bus runs between the towns of Koper – Izola – Piran – Portorož when cruise ships are docked. Shopping & RestaurantsThere are a lot of pizzerias, fish restaurants, and shops in the old town. Modern shopping centers can be found on the eastern side of the city.
