Introduction

Lifou is a small island and part of the Loyalty Islands in New Caledonia.

Where You're Docked

Cruise ships anchor and tender to a pier on the northwest end of the island near the village of Easo.

Money and Tipping

New Caledonia's official currency is the French Polynesian Franc (XPF). Australian and US dollars may be accepted at the local market.

Local Transportation

Lifou is a very small island with limited tourist services. The only way to get around is to walk.

Sights

There are only a few things to do here

  • There is excellent snorkelling on the other side of the point.
  • Hike up to the church
  • Hang out on the beach on either side of the pier

Shopping & Restaurants

The locals set up a market selling souvenirs and food at the foot of the pier. They may also perform a cultural dance for the cruise ship passengers.
