Introduction

Napier is a town hit by an earthquake in 1931 and rebuilt in its now famous art deco style.

Visas

As of Oct 1 2019, travellers from most countries will need to apply for a NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) linked to your passport. It is valid for multiple entries and two years. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas

Where You're Docked

Shuttles will take passengers the short distance from the pier to the center of town dropping off near the i-site visitor information office.

  • Art Deco Buildings - Visit the i-site tourist info center to purchase an art deco self guided walking map.
  • Carillon Memorial - located at Clive Square at the end of Emerson St, it chimes every half hour.

Shopping & Restaurants

The main shopping street is Emerson Street. It is only partially pedestrianized so be careful of traffic and don't wander in front of cars.

There is a Countdown supermarket just past Clive Square.
