Money and Tipping

When dining in restaurants, it is customary to leave 15-20% tip for good service since servers typically make minimum wage. Taxi drivers should be tipped the same rate.

Local Transportation

  • Mansions - Newport's most famous attractions are luxury mansion built by the rich now converted to museums. The three most popular museums are the Elms, the Breakers and Marble House. Individual entry for one mansion is $14.50 (Jan 2012) with price breaks to visit multiple ones.   • Cliff Walk - Located by the mansions. Be sure to take the 40 Steps down to the shore.
