Introduction

Noumea is the capital of New Caledonia.

Where You're Docked

Cruise ships dock at either the cruise terminal beside the city center or the the commercial port about one kilometre to the north. If docked at the commercial port, shuttles should be provided to the cruise terminal. Tours should be offered from booths inside.

Money and Tipping

New Caledonia's currency is the French Polynesian Franc (XPF). Australian and US dollars may be accepted at tourist friendly locations. Tipping is not generally expected.

Local Transportation

You can take a tourist train, the Noumea Explorer HOHO bus, local buses or taxis to get around.
