IntroductionSalalah is famous for the city's role in the ancient frankincense trade. Oman is a Muslim country so dress conservatively. Where You're DockedCruise ships dock at a port approximately 8 miles west of the city. The only way to get into the city is by taxi or on a tour. A shuttle is provided to the port gate. Taxi drivers at the gate are mainly interested in taking you on a city tour for $80 USD (Apr 2012) and may ask for the same rate just to go into the city. Money and Tipping
