Introduction

Sitka is a small fishing town in Alaska with a bit of Russian influence.

Where You're Docked

A cruise pier opened in 2013 at Old Sitka Dock (OSD) approximately five miles north of the downtown area. Free shuttle buses to downtown are usually provided if docked here. Money and Tipping

When dining in restaurants, it is customary to leave 15-20% tip for good service since servers typically make minimum wage. Taxi drivers should be tipped the same rate.

Sitka is easily walkable. A shuttle service around town may be offered when cruise ships are in port.

Hikes

Gavin Hill Trail is a great hike with boardwalks and staircases at the top. If you want a one way trip, take a taxi to the top of the hill and hike down.
