Introduction

Wellington is the capital of New Zealand and home to Peter Jackson of Lord of the Rings fame and his studios.

Visas

Where You're Docked

• Te Papa Museum - This modern museum has great architecture, cultural exhibits and best of all it's free. http://www.tepapa.govt.nz
• Wellington Cable Car - ride this for a view of the city up to the botanical garden. http://www.wellingtoncablecar.co.nz
• Take a walk along the harbour to Orient Beach passing Civic Square.
• If you're interested in government, tours of the beehive parliament are free.

Shopping & Restaurants

Restaurants can be found downtown and along the harbour. There is a small pedestrian mall on Cuba Street with Willis St being the main shopping street.

The closest supermarket to the cruise terminal is the New World inside the Wellington train station.

Wellington's CBD has free wifi. http://cbdfree.co.nz/ For crew, there is a small Seaman's Centre on the pier.
